SOUTH BOSTON, VA. --Barkhouser Ford-Lincoln-Mercury in Danville, Va. has become the official sponsor of the Limited Sportsman Division at South Boston Speedway, track officials announced Thursday.

The announcement continues a long relationship between the Barkhouser dealership, located on Riverside Drive in Danville, and South Boston Speedway.

"We're very excited to have them on board," South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. "We've had Barkhouser with us at the speedway before and we've always been very pleased. I have worked with James Barkhouser and his father. They are very good people to work with."

In previous seasons, Barkhouser Ford-Lincoln-Mercury has sponsored racing events at South Boston Speedway and the dealership has also provided the track's official pace car in past seasons.

"It's great to be sponsors of the Limited Sportsman Division at South Boston Speedway," James Barkhouser said. "The speedway is expecting a terrific year of attendance, car counts and competition.

"South Boston Speedway has some of the best competition in the country," Barkhouser added. "We are excited with the potential of being associated with South Boston Speedway and the fantastic talent in the Barkhouser Limited Sportsman Division."

The close proximity between South Boston and Danville makes Barkhouser Ford-Lincoln-Mercury a perfect fit for South Boston Speedway, according to Rice.

"They are located in Danville, which is just 30 minutes away from us," Rice said. "That's important to us here at South Boston Speedway because Danville is one of our largest areas to draw fans from."
