WHAT: Winn Dixie 200 presented by FastWax WHERE: St. Augustine Speedway, St. Augustine, Fla., 0.500 mile oval WHEN: Saturday, April 17, 1999, 8:00 p.m. DISTANCE: 200 laps (100 miles) POSTED AWARDS: $47,350 (including $3,000 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship point fund money.) FIELD: 32 cars. Starting positions 1-27 will be determined by time trials (2 laps), positions 28-31 will be available to any of the top 30 eligible drivers in the final 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship point standings, who have entered the event, but have not qualified for one of the original 27 starting positions. The 32nd starting position will be assigned to any Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Champion driver who participated as a driver in the 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring and who did not qualify for one of the original 27 starting positions, provided eligible driver attempts to qualify. If a starting position(s) remains unfilled, then that starting position(s) will become available to the next eligible car from the qualifying procedure for this event.

THE RACE: The Winn Dixie 200 presented by FastWax is the second of 18 races on the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule. This race also represents the third consecutive year that the series will race at St. Augustine Speedway, as well as the third consecutive year that Winn Dixie will be sponsoring the race.

1998 REVIEW: Starting from the pole position, Naples, Fla.'s Billy Bigley, Jr. led the first 144 laps before giving way to Darlington, S.C.'s Hal Goodson when Bigley braked to avoid the spinning race car of Conrad Burr. Bigley dropped to third, then moved by Gilchrist for the runner-up position on lap 151 then retook the lead from Goodson on lap 158. Bigley earned $9,600 for the win. Goodson and Gilchrist settled for second and third while Freddie Query and Bobby Gill completed the top five. Eight cars finished on the lead lap and 22 of 32 starters were running when the checkered flag waved. Homosassa, Fla.'s Nevin Jenkins was the Rookie-of-the-Race and Billy Bigley, Sr. earned the Jasper Engines & Transmissions Crew-Chief-of-the-Race Award.
