FIELD: 30 cars. Starting positions 1-25 will be determined by time trials (2 laps), positions 26-29 will be available to any of the top 30 eligible drivers in the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship point standings, who have entered the event, but have not qualified for one of the original 25 starting positions. The 30th starting position will be assigned to any Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Champion driver who participated as a driver in the 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring and who did not qualify for one of the original 25 starting positions, provided eligible driver attempts to qualify. If a starting position(s) remains unfilled, then that starting position(s) will become available to the next eligible car from the qualifying procedure for this event.

THE RACE: The Kroger 200 presented by Oral-B is the 15th of 16 races on the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule. This is the second of two Slim Jim All Pro Series races to be run at Lanier in 1999, and is the next to last race on the 1999 series schedule. Series events at Lanier always draw a generous group of local drivers looking to knock off the series regulars.
1998 REVIEW: Eventual 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series champion Freddie Query took the lead from Mike Garvey on lap 125 and went on to record his seventh win of the 1998 season. The win also represented a clean sweep for Query at the 0.375-mile oval in 1998 as he won the race held over the July 4 weekend as well. Ron Young, Garvey, Hal Goodson and rookie Scott Kilby rounded out the top five. Eleven cars were running on the lead lap when the checkered flag waved. Thirty-five cars attempted to qualify for one of the 30 starting positions and Goodson captured the Bud Pole Award. The race was run in a race record time of 58 minutes, 29 seconds and Query's average winning speed was 76.945 seconds. His margin of victory over Young was 0.37 seconds. Steven Howard captured the Gatorade Front Runner Award. There were five cautions for 37 laps and six lead changes among five drivers.

NOTES OF INTEREST · Mike Miller, Donnie Bishop, Mike Garvey, Freddie Query, Toby Porter, Wayne Willard, Gary Jones, Mike Cope, Steven Christian, Wayne Anderson, Billy Bigley, Jr. and Derrick Gilchrist have all won races at Lanier National Speedway. · Eleven drivers have earned Bud Pole positions at Lanier. Those drivers are Steve Holzhausen, Randy Porter, Casey Elliott, Scott Sutherland, Bobby Gill, Shane Hall, Mike Garvey, Tammy Jo Kirk, John Crow, Jimmy Garmon, Jerry Awbrey and Hal Goodson. All of the aforementioned drivers have earned one pole position with the exception of Kirk and Goodson who have each won two. · Sixteen-year-old Jason Hogan and Lawrenceville, Ga.'s Jimmy Garmon are two regular participants from Lanier's Super Late Model ranks that will be attempting to qualify for the Kroger 200 presented by Oral-B. On June 19 the duo finished eighth and ninth, respectively in the Greeson/Horton Homes 200.
STAT OF THE WEEK: Through 14 of 16 events series points leader Wayne Anderson has been the only driver to complete all 2590 laps raced in 1999.
