EVENT REVIEW: In an event that was delayed over two hours due to an horrendous rainstorm, that moved through the area four hours before race time, Jeff Fultz, originally from Cincinnati, Oh, and now calling Mooresville, N. C. home, returned to the track, he considers his home track, with the Hills Bros. All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring and dominated the event by leading 66 of 100 laps. Fultz, starting outside front row with Bud Pole winner Brian Smith, swapped the lead with Smith over the first three laps before Smith forged ahead on lap four. Fultz dogged Smith as the two drivers stayed one-two over the next 28 laps with Fultz going to the front on lap 32. The only race caution waved on lap 39 allowing many of the lead lap cars to pit for tires and fuel. 2001 Rookie-of-the-Year contender Richie Beasley did not pit and assumed the lead. When the green flag waved on lap 45, Fultz wasted little time regaining the point on lap 46 and led the remainder of the race to secure his first win of 2001.
