1998 REVIEW: Darlington, S.C.'s Hal Goodson established the inaugural track record in Bud Pole qualifying and led the first seven laps before rookie Ronnie Burkett pushed his Big Daddy's BBQ Sauces & Spices Chevrolet to the front. Goodson regained the lead on lap 31 and held the lead until Bobby Gill edged Goodson at the stripe on lap 81. Goodson then regained the lead and led until the checkered flag waved on the 102nd circuit. Gill settled for second ahead of Freddie Query with Mike Cope and Derrick Gilchrist completing the top five. Goodson earned $13,100 for the win. Fourteen cars finished on the lead lap and 22 of 32 starters were running when the checkered flag waved. David Moyer was the Rookie-of-the-Race and David Honney earned the Jasper Engines & Transmissions Crew-Chief-of-the-Race Award.

NOTES OF INTEREST * Last year's race, run immediately after the completion of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, was run in front of an enthusiastic sold-out crowd. Memphis-area NASCAR fans were very enthusiastic to witness the two NASCAR divisions. * The $75,200 in posted awards is the highest, year-to-date purse that the Slim Jim All-Pro Series drivers have raced for. This will be the first event on the 1999 schedule where provisionals will be based on 1999 point standings. The four previous events were based on 1998 point standings.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Slim Jim All Pro Series drivers will crisscross the state of Tennessee in 1999. In addition to racing at Memphis, the Series will stop at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kingsport Speedway and Nashville Speedway U.S.A.
