Fontaine Moves Up To 23rd In All Pro Points With 25th Place Finish At Kentucky
Chris Fontaine in the Discount Auto Parts/Suntrust #46 Monte Carlo took a 25th place finish at Kentucky Motor Speedway last Saturday night in front of 18,000 fans. The finish moves Chris up to 23rd of 60 in the 2001 NASCAR All Pro points race.
Chris qualified the car in 31st position of 36 to start the 100 lap race on the 1.5 mile Speedway. "Starting in the back like that there ended up being three groups of cars.
The second and third group lost the draft of the first group of cars then it was a battle amoung the group I was in," Chris said, adding, "It was a real experience fighting for position at speeds up to 150 mph."
"There was one caution for a spinout and several for debris on the track, but it was an accident free race," Chris said.
"When we pitted on lap 36 the air gun busted which slowed us down some and we changed 2 tires, but it did not affect the handling of the car."
"I want to thank my sponsors Discount Auto Parts and SunTrust for their support of our racing efforts, and I want to thank my pitcrew for all their hard work," Chris said.
The next event for the CJF Racing team is a 200-lap event this Saturday, August 18 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC.
