Carswell Motorsports and Justin Wakefield announce 2004 plans

(Woodstock, GA) Carswell Motorsports along with driver, Justin Wakefield announced today that they would begin their sophomore season in the newly named and sponsored, NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series for the upcoming 2004 season.

"I am very excited about the deal that Jake and I put together again for this season and not to mention the opportunity to work along side Jody Ridley as my crew chief," stated Wakefield from his shop in Woodstock, GA. "Not only did I gain valuable seat time last season, but my team picked up just as much experience in the pits, so we are looking forward to hitting the track without the yellow stripe on the back of the car!"

Wakefield entered the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series last season for his rookie campaign, which yielded the Georgia native four top-10 finishes during the 10 race schedule. Wakefield's solid finishes on the NASCAR sanctioned tour earned him an 8th place finish in the series final championship point standings and a 25th place finish in the invitation only, NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale California.

"The Toyota Showdown was a different experience for us overall, because excluding Jody, none of us on the team had ever raced that far away from home," commented Justin on his 25th place finish in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irinwdale Speedway (CA). "This season's schedule looks as if there will be more traveling than last, which will be fun for me, because I love racing at new tracks," stated Wakefield.

The 2004 NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series schedule was released early this week with the 12 event schedule highlighted by inaugural visits to the historic Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC and Houston Raceway Park in Houston, TX. The NASCAR sanctioned tour will also visit venues in Georgia at Lanier National Speedway and return visits to Kentucky Speedway and Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC) along with a first visit to Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC.

"Lanier and Houston are going to be the two events that I am looking forward to this season, and of course, racing in front of the Busch Series regulars at Kentucky Speedway will also be a blast," says Justin. "I am particular excited about racing at Lanier because that would be like our home track for this season, and it will be fun racing in front of the home town fans."

Justin will unload his #98 Ford Taurus on April 17 @ Music City Motorplex for the first event of the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series 12 event schedule. This will be the first of three visits for Wakefield in the state of Tennessee during the 2004 season.

"Its fun for us to race in Tennessee, because it is close to home and Tennessee has such a wide variety of racing tracks that fit my driving style," says Justin. "We had some good runs in 2003 at a few of these tracks that we are returning too again, so I think that we will be able to top ourselves this season with a top-5 finish in the championship point standings," concluded Wakefield.
