SELLERS ANNOUNCES 2006 PLANS AFTER CHAMPIONSHIP RUN
(Danville, VA) Team President and Crew Chief, H.C. Sellers III announced today plans for the 2006 racing season. After claiming the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Championship in late model competition at South Boston Speedway, Sellers Racing has partnered with driver Jon Denning for 2006 at South Boston Speedway. Denning, a young upstart development driver from Springfield, New Jersey has relocated to southside Virginia in an effort to realize his racing dreams.
"What impressed me most about Jon Denning", says H.C. Sellers, "was his willingness to move to Danville and work to make his racing career happen. I think he has talent, he just hasn't had the right car or opportunity to show it yet. We're going to be housing his race car and getting it ready to race here at the shop. He's motivated about racing at South Boston and after the success that Peyton and this team had last year, I can't blame him. I'm excited about getting back to the track myself."
H.C. and driver Peyton Sellers captured 15 wins enroute to the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Championship and the Sellers Racing operation is set on making another championship a reality.
"We're going for the championship, make no mistake about that", says H.C. Sellers, "Jon is young, but he's working to reach his potential and I think with the effort he puts forth, we can make that happen."
"It's an opportunity that I've been hoping for", says driver Jon Denning, "I've raced at South Boston and Motor Mile Speedway over the past couple seasons, but have not been in a position to contend for a championship. Working with Sellers Racing, I know that can happen. H.C. has been great to work with and I am really excited to see where this season is going to take me. I've been racing since I was nine and now it looks like my goals are coming together and I could not ask for a better Team or place to race."
Denning will field the #46 Chevrolet in competition at South Boston Speedway. Sellers racing will also field the #26 Clarence's Steak House, Danville Community College, Race to GED Chevrolet with National Champion Peyton Sellers, as his schedule allows. Peyton is currently driving the #16 for Bill McAnally in the NASCAR Grand National West Series.
