Bechtelsville, PA May 13, 2000 . . . The good news based on the amount of rain that has fallen at Grandview Speedway during April and early May, the May flowers should be in good shape. The bad news is four Saturday night programs of NASCAR stock car racing have been lost to wet weather in a season that is less than two months old.

On Saturday night rain, lightning and hail forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to cancel the scheduled NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds and NASCAR Exide ShorTrack Late Model racing show. Another strong field of more than 90 race cars was in the competition area for the doubleheader show.

Stock car racing returns to the one-third-mile, clay Berks County oval on Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. Again a stellar field of NASCAR Modified and Exide ShorTrack Late Model stock car racers will be featured. At least 13 events of racing will be presented.

Terry Meitzler, the defending champion, is on top in the NASCAR Modified title race. The Kutztown, PA racer has 772 counters. And former champion Dean Stoudt of East Greenville, PA is tops in the Late Model division with 867 counters.

Coming up on Tuesday, May 23rd, 7:30 p.m. will be a Four Feature Only show, no heat races, as part of the Philadelphia Daily News/NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series. Included will be ARDC Midgets, KARS Wingless Sprints, 410 Sprints and NASCAR Modifieds. At 5:15 p.m. there will be an autograph session featuring Dave Ely, Lance Dewease and Skip Jackson. Raindate is Wednesday, May 24th, 7:30 p.m.
