SPEED Channel Steps Up NASCAR Grand National Division TV Coverage

The NASCAR Grand National Division -- consisting of the Busch North Series and West Series -- is set to receive an unprecedented level of nationwide television coverage on two outlets: SPEED Channel, the exclusive home to NASCAR TV, and high-definition network HDNet.

SPEED Channel will provide enhanced replays of 18 NASCAR Grand National Division events throughout the season (originally shown live in high-definition on HDNet), along with six originally-produced telecasts. The resulting season-long schedule provides more opportunities for NASCAR fans to see the future stars in this division, competing in a variety of events.

Additionally, SPEED Channel will once again provide live flag-to-flag coverage of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, Nov. 12-13 from Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. SPEED Channel's exclusive coverage of this marquis post-season event will include live coverage of the qualifying races on Friday, Nov. 12 plus the feature races on Nov. 13.

"After the great performance last year [at the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown] at Irwindale, both on the track and in the ratings, SPEED Channel is very excited about another season with NASCAR's Grand National division," said SPEED Channel Senior Vice President of Programming/Production and Executive Producer Rick Miner.

NASCAR officials echoed Miner's sentiments.

"The NASCAR Grand National Division is receiving more television coverage than ever before," said NASCAR Digital Entertainment Managing Director, Broadcasting and New Media Jeffrey Pollack. "The winning combination of SPEED Channel and HDNet this season means increased exposure for all of the drivers, teams, tracks, and sponsors."

"Thanks to SPEED Channel's continued coverage, NASCAR fans will be able to follow the action in the NASCAR Grand National Division throughout the season and then tune in for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown in November, to see how their favorite drivers fare in this unique event," said NASCAR Director of Regional Touring Chris Boals.
