Pursley Nabs Bud Pole for Southwest Series Finale at PIR

AVONDALE, ARIZ. (November 9, 2006) Greg Pursley of Canyon Country, Calif. captured his second Bud Pole Award of the season for the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Konica Minolta "125" at the ultra-fast one-mile paved oval of Phoenix International Raceway. Pursley toured the desert mile with a quick lap of 27.706 seconds/129.936 mph. Rounding out the top five in qualifying of the 45-cars who clocked in were Midwest Series champion Tim Schendel, Eric Holmes, Eddy McKean, and Southwest Series champion JR Norris.

Forty-two drivers will make up the starting field with Darren Bucklen, Eddie Bryans, and Dan Holtz failing to qualify.

The Konica Minolta "125" is set to take the green flag later tonight just after 7:00 p.m. MT. The event will mark the final race for the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series after 21 years.
