Southard Victory To Stick, for now

Track officials at the Old Dominion Speedway today announced that, for the time being, the victory by Mike Southard last Saturday night will stand as official. "We have sent the MSD box that came from Southard's car to MSD. They in turn have told us that it will be at least two weeks before they can test the unit," says General Manager Hayne Dominick. "That's about all we can do at this point, as we want to make sure the box is legal. What better of a place to send the unit than to the actual manufacturer for inspection," Dominick added. "In addition to the MSD box inspection, we have also taken samples of the fuel out of the top four cars in the LM division finish from Saturday night (Southard, Dustin Storm, Franklin Butler, and Jack Bailey) and have sent those samples out as well. We should hear back on those results later this week."

So the season at the Old Dominion Speedway carries on, with the "officially unofficial" results to stand until further notice. If anything regarding the inspections comes back as illegal, the points and purses awarded will be adjusted accordingly. The schedule this Saturday night includes a 100-lap feature for the B/G Products NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Models, 100 laps for the Redman Fleet Service Grand Stocks, 30 laps for the Mini-Modifieds, and 15 laps for the Convenience Car Care UCAR's. Also on the schedule will be the BDE Racing Series Mini Cups and Pro Trucks. Practice begins at 2PM, Lindsey Chevrolet Quick Qualifying begins at 4PM, with racing action beginning at 6:30 with the BDE Racing Series.
