RIEHL SNAGS WENATCHEE POLE

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. (September 24, 2005) -- NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series points leader Brandon Riehl earned his second Bud Pole Award of the season in time trials for the Dick's Heating & Air Conditioning 200 at the Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval in East Wenatchee, Wash.

Riehl, out of Boring, Ore., patrolled the 1/4-mile oval in 12.837 seconds (70.110 mph). With that time, he is locked into the pole position for the 200-lap main event to be run Sunday afternoon. It was Riehl's third pole in his Northwest Series career.

Also, set for the race is Jeff Barkshire, who posted the second-fastest time to garner the outside pole.

Jeff Jefferson, Tom Sweatman and Jeff Bailey rounded out the top five in time trials. However, their positions were not protected. The field behind the two fast qualifiers was set by two 25-lap qualifying races.

In the first qualifying race polesitter Riehl led all 25 laps followed by Jefferson, Bailey, Travis Bennett and Wilbur Bruce.

The second qualifying race saw one lead change as Sweatman overtook Barkshire early to take the win. He was followed by Barkshire, John Bender, Gary Lewis and Brad Tanner.

In tomorrow's main event, the Northwest Series championship is on the line with Riehl holding a 14-point advantage over Jefferson and a 30-point edge on Pete Harding.
