JEFFERSON TAKES BOTH PRIZES IN WENATCHEE

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. (Sept. 24, 2005) -- Jeff Jefferson won the Dick's Heating and Air Conditioning 200 in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series at the Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval in East Wenatchee, Wash. He took the lead for good on lap 54 and led the final 146 laps in the 200-lap event at 1/4-mile oval.

Also on the line at this event was the 2005 series points championship. Brandon Riehl brought at 14-point advantage over defending champion Jeff Jefferson into the event. However, bad luck befell Riehl early in the race and Jefferson went on to collect an unprecedented third straight series championship.

Jeff Barkshire followed Jefferson across the finish line by .325 seconds. Travis Bennett collected his highest finish of the season with a third-place showing. Hometown hero Garrett Evans finished fourth followed by Gary Lewis.

Roger Habich, Wilbur Bruce, Wes Rhodes, Tom Sweatman and Jeff Bailey rounded out the top 10.

This was the final race of the season for the Northwest Series. The top-10 finishers in points will receive an invitation to attend the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown to be held at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway November 10-12 and be pitted against the top 10 from the other three NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division series. This special awards-only event will award competitors over $500,000 in prize money and be telecast on SPEED Channel.
