Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, NASCAR Touring: Kevin Hamlin won the Oasis Waterworks 125 at Tri City Raceway in West Richland, Wash. and used the win to grab the lead in the championship standings. It was Hamlin's second victory of the season.

Hamlin won the Bud Pole Award and started fourth in the field when the first two rows were inverted. He spent the first half of the race chasing former champion Gary Lewis. Hamlin finally caught Lewis on the 69th circuit of the half-mile oval making the pass for the lead 10 laps later.

"I thought we had something for them if we bided our time," Hamlin said. "These Goodyear Eagles were just awesome."

John Bender finished second, just 07 of a second behind the winner. Joe Benedetti was third, Shane Biles took fourth and veteran Bill Lawrence finished fifth.

Hamlin's Bud Pole-winning speed was 101.323 mph. He averaged 67.69 mph in the race. The win left Hamlin with 822 points for the 2001 season. Ron Eaton is second in the standings with 773.
