MONROE, Wash. (September 18, 2004) - Heavy rain today forced the cancellation of the Big O Tires 125 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash as part of the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series. In addition to the wet track conditions, rain all week in the area flooded portions of the infield creating unsafe conditions.

NASCAR and track officials mutually agreed not to re-schedule the event with the season-ending event slated for next week.

The chase for the championship, Northwest Series style, will conclude next Saturday, September 25, with the KKRV 150 at Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval (WVSO) in East Wenatchee, Wash. The season points race could not be closer. Four-time series champion Garrett Evans takes a slim six point lead over 2004 Northwest Series Auto Meter Rookie of the Year Travis Bennett. Defending series champ Jeff Jefferson sits just 15 points behind Evans. The drama doesn't end there. Jason Jefferson and Pete Harding head into the final race with 51 and 52 points, respectively, out of the title hunt.

The final race of the 2004 season is sure to be an action-packed affair on the 1/4-mile oval at WVSO with virtually every spot in the season points race up for grabs. Also, the drivers finishing the season in the top 10 will earn a berth in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown to be held at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway on November 11-13.
