Ericksen Leads Northeast In Nascar Weekly Racing Series' Shortrack Division
Big Diamond's Dissinger Needs To Recapture Early Season Form To Challenge

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 16, 2001) - ShorTrack Series Division competitors in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series are highlighting their weekly racing card with exciting competition. Each weekend, local competitors throughout the nation put their best foot forward seeking local, regional and national recognition in the ShorTrack Division Competition Performance Index (CPI) standings.

Pete 'Buzzy' Eriksen of Baldwin, N.Y., has taken the lead in the Northeast Region of the ShorTrack Division. Eriksen, who competes in the Late Model division at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway, has won three events, and has 10 top-five finishes in 11 starts. Edward Brehio of Baldwinville, Mass., is close behind in second in the region. Brehio, who competes in the Late Model division at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H., has four wins in 14 starts this season. Doug Meyer, Lorain County Speedway in South Amherst, Ohio; Todd Price, Jennerstown (Penn.) Speedway, and Dave Dissinger, Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, Pa., round out the top five in the Northeast Region of the ShorTrack Division in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series. Although Dave Dissinger of Mohrsville, PA got out of the blocks very quickly with three wins and a substantial point lead, stiff competition have kept him from continuing that dominance at the Big Diamond Raceway 3/8-th-mile clay oval. If fact he has struggled to make the top five in a few events and actually did not qualify to compete in one feature. Dave needs to find that early season form in the closing events of the season to make a run at the quartet in front of him in the region.
