LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway's 3/8-mile paved oval has been selected to host three national sponsor nights this summer.
Each year NASCAR-sanctioned speedways are eligible to host the events sponsored by Craftsman, Gatorade and Exide. This year LVMS has been selected to host all three.
The first of the three events, Craftsman Night at the Races, is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 and will feature two 25-lap NASCAR Late Model main events, Bandoleros, Hitchin' Post/Exiss Legends cars, Mini Stocks, Chargers and Grand American Modifieds. Throughout the evening, several Craftsman products will be given to select race fans through drawings and trivia.
"We are privileged to be one of the few short tracks across the country selected to host Craftman Night at the Races," said David Stetzer, director of short-track events. "With the help of companies like Craftsman we can continue to provide top-notch family entertainment every Saturday night."
As part of a partnership between Sears and NASCAR that includes the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Craftsman Night at the Races will be held at NASCAR Weekly Racing Series events nationwide, providing exciting racing to showcase talented local drivers.
"Some of the finest mechanics in the world build the cars that race in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series," said John Lebbad, director of event marketing and sales promotion for Sears. "Those drivers and the fans in the grandstands are among the best customers for Craftsman tools.
"Sears and the Craftsman brand have been part of auto racing for more than fifty years. Racing is a great way to promote our Craftsman products, but the biggest reason we are involved is because our customers and Sears associates are race fans, and race fans shop at Sears."=20
Gates open at 5 p.m., and races start at 6. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free. Family four pack is $25.
Gatorade Night is tentatively scheduled for August 12 and Exide Night is slated for August 19.
