Todd Gilliland continued his quest to try and win both NASCAR K&N Pro Series championships with a dominating win on Friday in the Casey’s General Stores 150 at Iowa Speedway.

The third-generation driver won the combination race for the second straight year, giving his team, Bill McAnally Racing, its fourth consecutive victory in the event that combines the East and West divisions.

The NASCAR Next driver from Sherrills Ford, N.C. has now won three of the last four races he’s entered and the 15th of the 17-year-old driver’s young career.

Gilliland took the lead on Lap 3 and cruised throughout most of the race. After his closest competitor in the race, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ben Kennedy, suffered mechanical issues after a red flag with 10 laps to go in the race – Gilliland was able to move on to the win.

“Everything’s coming together right now for our NAPA Toyota team,” said Gilliland. “It really puts my mind back into the championship battle. Every win we get closer. Gaining on your competitors always feels good. We’ve got to keep it up.”

Rookie Chase Purdy, also a member of this year’s NASCAR Next class, finished second with Chris Eggleston third.

NASCAR Next drivers Harrison Burton and Chase Cabre completed the top five.

Burton’s lead over Gilliland in the K&N East is now just six points while Gilliland leads his teammate Eggleston by 18 points in the West. Overall in the two divisions, Gilliland has seven wins, 13 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes in 18 starts this season.

Micheal Self was sixth with Kennedy rebounding from his mechanical issues to finish seventh. Will Rodgers, Ronnie Bassett, and Jesse Little completed the top-10.
