Humphrey takes 11th despite taking a hit from behind.

MYRTLE BEACH SC (August 12, 2002) What began as a great day with good qualifying times, ended in a mad limp to the finish. Randy Humphrey qualified well and started 7th in one of the best short track cars he's had this season. "It was a great car and we had fast qualifying time. During practice we ran faster times, than most of the cars that finished in the top 10," said Humphrey.

On Lap 55 going into turn one, Busch Series Driver Shane Hmiel got into the back end of the #93 Eastwood Homes Pontiac causing series damage to the rear of the car. Arlene Pittman was collected in the carnage despite her attempts to avoid it. Her car went into a spin, clipping the front of Humphrey. "We had damage to both the front end and the back end," said Humphrey.

"We have a great team that was able to put the #93 back together and finish the race in 11th," he added. The Randy Humphrey Race Team looks forward to Bristol on Wednesday August 21.

"Last year was our first time at Bristol and we finished in the top 10. We'd like to do better than that this year," Humphrey said.
