Lady Luck Deals Lasoski Top-Five Finish at Vegas
Danny Lasoski and the No. 20 Tony Stewart Motorsports team picked up another top-five finish over the weekend at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway in World of Outlaws Sprint Series action. "The Dude" brought the No. 20 across the finish line in 12th position on Thursday and followed it up with a fifth-place finish on Friday. Friday night's action started out rough for Lasoski, as the No. 20 broke a crankshaft in the third heat race, but Lasoski was able to hang on to a transfer position to make the A-main event.
"The sign of a good team is that you don't let one bad night ruin your season," said Lasoski, the 2001 series champion. "You just look ahead to the next night because we have 100 nights."
Sammy Swindell and the No. 5 Forbrook Motorsports team also saw success in the desert, as Swindell picked up a heat race and dash event victory on Thursday night. The event finale saw Swindell win the second heat race event en route to a fifth-place finish in the A-main feature event.
Lasoski, Swindell and the rest of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series will resume action this weekend when the series stops at the Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss., on Friday and then moves on to Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, on Saturday.
"We'll keep plugging away and get closer and closer. We just need to get
consistent. When we get consistently in the top five, we're going to win
-- Driver Danny Lasoski, on working his way to victory on the WoO Sprint circuit.

Allen Johnson, Richie Stevens Jr., and Jeg Coughlin Jr., will all be gunning to leave their mark on the history-rich event. Race fans could be treated to some of the best racing of the season, and if the weather holds out, the 207 mph bracket is within the drivers' grasp.
Allen Johnson will lead Team Mopar into the Gainesville, Fla., event as he attempts to post back-to-back Pro Stock victories after the veteran driver earned an impressive win at Firebird Raceway in his Mopar Dodge Stratus R/T two weeks ago. Johnson also holds the lead in the points race, marking the first time in his career that he has sat on top of the standings.
The Don Schumacher Racing duo of Stevens Jr., and Coughlin Jr., will also look to capitalize on their strong runs in Phoenix. Musgrave Closes in on $3 Million Mark as NCTS Heads to Atlanta
Ted Musgrave and the No. 1 Mopar Dodge Ram team have seen the 2005 racing season begin on a high note. You could even go so far as to say it's been tinted with rose-colored glasses. But as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rolls into the Atlanta Motor Speedway for Friday's World Financial Group 200, Musgrave could be seeing a whole new hue.
Beginning in Atlanta, Musgrave will begin a march toward becoming the sixth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver to earn $3 million in series' winnings. Only five other drivers (Jack Sprague, Dennis Setzer, Joe Ruttman, Ron Hornaday and Rick Crawford) have made this achievement thus far in series history. Musgrave will enter the Atlanta race with an earnings total of $2,936,581.
Musgrave will be able to add his own distinction on the career marker, though, as he could be the first driver to reach the $3 million mark in less than 110 starts. Musgrave will make start 102 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start when he takes the track at Atlanta. Hornaday and Sprague had been the fastest to reach the milestone, cracking the $3 million barrier in 122 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts.
In last year's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Musgrave drove to an eighth-place finish after qualifying in 21st position. The No. 1 Ultra Motorsports team will enter Friday's World Financial Group 200 in the fourth position in series points.

Hubinette Bares Fangs, Picks Up Sixth Viper Racing League Win
Samuel Hubinette earned his sixth Viper Racing League event victory over the weekend, as "The Crazy Swede" picked up victories at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, Calif. Hubinette piloted the Mopar Viper Competition Coupe owned by Marko Radosavljevic to two victories and the best qualifying time over the competitive field of 13 entries.
The weekend started off a bit rocky for Hubinette, with the Mopar Viper Competition Coupe coming in overheated after practice on Friday afternoon. The DC Performance Crew quickly isolated the problem, and the car was solid during Saturday's practice run. Hubinette started from the pole for Saturday's race, easily winning the 11-lap event. The event was also Hubinette's first visit to the facility.
For Sunday's event finale, Hubinette was relegated to the rear of the field after his victory on Saturday. Traffic was no match for the veteran driver, as he passed the 13-car field within four laps to take the lead. Hubinette went on to capture the 22-lap event with a sizable margin over the field. He also posted the best lap time of the weekend, turning a lap of 1:54.902 over the course of the event.
