Max Gresham Shooting For Three Titles With Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N Pro Series Effort
Griffin, GA -- Max Gresham has taken the first lap on what he hopes to be a very successful 2010 season announcing he will be driving a Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N Pro Series entry full-time in 2010.
Gresham and the JGR Toyota Camry will make their 2010 debut in the season-opening NASCAR K&N race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC on Saturday, March 27. The team will run the entire 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series nine-event schedule competing for the Owner's, Driver's and Rookie Of The Year championships.
"We're going to have a lot on our plate with our Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N Series car this season," said Gresham. "I'm going to do my best to hold up my end of the deal. This is a top team. It's great to be able to drive for such an awesome team and organization. I'm not sure if any team has ever won the Owner's, Driver's and Rookie titles - all three championships -- in one season. If anyone can do it, I believe this JGR team is the group."
The 2010 Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N program will be an extension of the 2009 campaign when Gresham piloted the No. 18 Gibbs' Toyota in four division events posting a seventh-place finishing average.
Veteran crew chief Mike Sibley will again lead the JGR K&N effort this season. According to Gresham, that was one of the biggest benefits to his association with Joe Gibbs Racing.
"I worked with Mike and the JGR guys really well last year," Gresham stated. "We developed a strong bond in our four races and going forward I know that's going make us a better team."
In addition to the season opening event at Greenville, the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series tour will have several familiar stops for the 16-year-old driver. Those include Iowa Speedway -- where he finished third last year -- and New Hampshire Motor Speedway -- where Gresham sat on the outside pole in his first-ever one-mile track experience. (a full 2010 NKNPS schedule is included below).
"Running those events, especially on the bigger tracks like Iowa and New Hampshire, gave me a much better understanding of what the car needs and how I need to be driving it," said Gresham, who will also compete in select ARCA events behind the wheel of a Gresham Motorsports entry in 2010. "That experience was a big leap forward for me and we expect to have that same kind of growth this year. It's on all of us to win some races. This JGR team did that and plans on doing it again this year."
Gresham and the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N Pro Series team will take the green flag Saturday, March 27 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC.
