Kobyluck Takes Four for '08 at Lime Rock Park

LAKEVILLE, CT (16 August 2008) -- Matt Kobyluck did his championship hopes no harm on Saturday as he took a convincing Lime Rock Park Mohegan Sun 200 race victory to grow his NASCAR Camping World East championship points lead. The Lime Rock Park race win was the third in a row for Kobyluck, who now has four NASCAR Camping World Series race wins to his name this season.

The day opened up under beautiful skies as the VW Jetta TDI Cup and Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup series both made impressive debuts at Lime Rock Park before the feature NASCAR event.

As the Mohegan Sun 200 got underway, an ominous cloud encircled the track and eventually delivered a rain shower that caused a red flag. Just over an hour after the race started, light rain and sporatic lightening forced race officials to stop the cars and return them to pit lane to wait for the short burst of bad weather to pass. After 40 minutes the clouds rolled away and the postcard-worthy weather returned and allowed for the full race distance to run. Engines re-started with 34 laps remaining in the race as the NASCAR boys thundered through the hills. After several caution periods and at 5 laps to go, Kobyluck took the checkered flag without hesitation.

A day in the park ended for race fans as they got to experience their own taste of the track during the Fan Appreciation Hot Laps. Thanks to the Skip Barber Racing School and Lime Rock Park staff, fans were able to ride along at speed with a professional driver allowing them to experience what the professional drivers went through just minutes before.

Race weekend at Lime Rock Park ends with sunshine, smiling faces and a thrilling victory for track sponsor and winning car sponsor, Mohegan Sun.

NEXT EVENT: Rolex Vintage Festival, Labor Day Weekend

Feature races for the Ferrari Shell Historic Challenge, two international invitational races for Formula Junior, a special race for pre-war historic cars and the usual brilliant array of sports GT and racing cars will fill the track on Friday, Saturday and Monday (29 August -- 1 September 2008). While "Sunday in the Park", the most spectacular car show extravaganza of the north east coast, will delight those who come to relax, picnic and enjoy a fine Labor Day weekend at Lime Rock Park.
