LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Night of Champions at The Bullring will offer intense racing action as NASCAR Charger Division and Grand American Modified Division points leaders fight for championship titles.

In the NASCAR Charger Division there is a tie for first place. Len Dejoria and Keith Danser both have 721 points. But these drivers have more to worry about than just each other. Al DeJoria is following closely behind with 719 points.

Three drivers are trying to secure the title of champion in the Grand American Modified division. Fabian Bray with 813 points has a slight edge over Larry Gerchman with 803 points and Doug Hamm with 801 points.

"The drivers have been working towards this night all year long. The points are so close that anyone can win at this stage," said David Stetzer, director of short-track events. The championship battles will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The first ever car football game to take place at The Bullring

A Yugo will take the place of the typical pigskin as competing demolition derby teams brawl over the car in LVMS' high intensity version of football this Saturday at the Bullring during the Night of Champions.

Over 10 cars will make up the six demolition derby teams to compete in the mayhem. The Metal Militia, Gladiators, Titans, Ironheads, Crushers and Bulls will all try to qualify in the semifinals to make it to the Super Bowl of car football.

The Super Bowl will offer two teams charging against each other trying to score two touchdowns.

Bug-O-Rama to invade The Strip

VW Bugs from all over the nation will be present this Sunday at The Strip for the Bug-O-Rama which will provide a wide variety of VW Bug events.

The Las Vegas Bug-In 2000 will provide competitive drag racing in the seasonal P.R.A. points finale. Top Eliminators, Pro Stock, Pro Modifieds, Super Street, Super Gas, Pro-Eliminator, and Sportsman class will all participate it the jam-packed excitement.

A swap meet and vendor alley will also add to the VW Bug atmosphere. Everything from rare parts to T-shirts will be available to drivers and Bug owners.

A Bug Show and Shine participant car show will also take place. Awards will be given.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $5 children 6-12. Pit parking for VW's is $5 and non-VW cars are $15. The car show is $25, which includes driver. Renn Kafer Cup racing is $25. Trophy class is $25. P.R.A. class is $50.
