Late Model, Legends point leads increased; Schottmuller pulls upset in Outlaw Stocks.

LAS VEGAS-- Scott "The Wizard" Gafforini increased his NASCAR Late Model championship points lead to 14 over Thane Alderman after posting his second consecutive win Saturday night at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Although Gafforini claims not to be concentrating on the championship, he is clearly in the hunt with Alderman.

"I go out to have a good time with friends and race my car and if I win, I win," Gafforini said. "I help (Jerry) Spilsbury with his two cars and Greg Haase. So here I am helping people to beat me and run with me. It's about having a good time, helping people and racing the car. It's not about the track or regional championship."

After twin main-event wins in NASCAR Outlaw Stocks action, Mark Schottmuller unseated former points leaders Glen Burke and Len DeJoria. Schottmuller collected his first win in the first 25-lap event and took the lead by nine over Burke and 13 over rookie DeJoria.

Legends Cars driver David Anderson substantially padded his point lead over Rob Guevara despite a disappointing 14th-place finish. Guevara had trouble in the heat races and did not start the 25-lap main event.
