On Saturday night, June 19, veteran modified racer Jim Bagley suffered a heart attack at the track. The medical people in place at Grandview Speedway reacted very quickly and were able to transport Bagley to the Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown. He underwent "heart surgery" and is now recovering. For fans who want like to send cards and letters to the veteran racer, a fan favorite, the address is Jim Bagley, 1320 W. BUSY MONTH OF JULY FACES RACERS AND FANS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 23, 1999 . . . No less than six nights of professional auto racing will be featured at the NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway during the month of July. Five straight Saturday night shows, all with Sunday night, 7 p.m. rain dates, will start with a special Fourth of July Weekend show on Saturday, July 3. The 7:30 p.m. show will include the Firecracker 40 for Late Models along with a full show of modifieds. And topping the night will be a spectacular fireworks display. Kochel Equipment of Elverson, PA will give a $300 Karcher Pressure Washer to some lucky late model racers running in the Firecracker 40. And Kochel will sponsor a special Late Model Cash Dash. Quigley Motors of Boyertown will sponsor the NASCAR Modified Cash Dash. And on Saturday, July 10, Hatfield Quality Meats will be on hand to "shoot hot dogs into the stands" and their mascot Smiley will be entertaining young and old. In addition there will be free samples of Hatfield products and prizes given away. NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will be the featured attractions with at least 13 events of stock car racing making up the 7:30 p.m. show. Jesse Baro Bulk Hauling & Contracting will sponsor the Saturday, July 17th, 7:30 p.m. show. Again at least 13 events of stock car racing, modifieds and late models, will make up the show. What could very well become a fan favorite show will take place on Tuesday, July 20 (rain date July 21) at 7:30 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to see four 25-lap features for ARDC midgets, wingless sprints, 410 sprints and the NASCAR Modifieds. It will be the first time for such an attraction at the Berks County oval. On Saturday, July 24, 7:30 p.m. Touch of Green Landscaping will present Make A Wish Night. The Boyertown based landscaping business will be using the night to raise money for and bring attention to the Make A Wish Foundation. NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will be the featured attractions. And the month of July will close out on Saturday, July 31, 7:30 p.m. with Exide Batteries Night. Again it will be the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, at least 13 events of stock car racing being presented.
