LAS VEGAS - After three attempts at a checkered flag Wayne Jacks of Las Vegas finally took the win in the 40-lap NASCAR Late Model main event Saturday night at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Jacks started second and took the lead from Steve Rzesnoweicky on the first lap. Jacks had a straightaway lead over Scott Gafforini, Chuck Trickle, Dick Cobb and Steve Anderson until the final five circuits. The second caution of the race came making it a five-lap shootout for the win.
Jacks, Gafforini and Trickle battled three wide for the lead, but Gafforini and Trickle collided bringing out the third caution of the event.
On the restart Jacks led Cobb, Anderson and Dave Quartaro. Jacks took the white flag, but as he came around for the checkered the caution flag waved for a two-car accident in turn four setting up a two-lap dash for the victory.
After another restart, Jacks again took the white flag, but a three-car wreck in turn one brought out another caution.
On the final restart, Cobb pressured Jacks, but Jacks prevailed. Going into turn three, Gafforini and Trickle collided again bringing out the caution flag, but officials waved the checkered allowing Jacks to claim his second win of the year.
Jerry Walton took the win in the Grand American Modified race. In the Hitchin' Post/Exiss Legends race, Kyle Busch won. Al Dejoria won the first main event in the Charger Division, and and Pat Petrie Jr. won the second Charger main event. In Mini Stocks, Casey Kingsland visited victory lane. In the Bandoleros, Alex Haase claimed the victory.
