Notes of Interest:The Ekamant Coated Abrasives 125 will mark only the third visit for the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series to the Tri-County Motor Speedway in eight years. In their first appearance, in 1990, Mike Oliver picked up his first, and only, Series win here at the 4/10 mile oval after also winning the pole for that race. When the Series returned in 1996, another first time winner, B.J. Mackey, took his place on the Series, all time winners list when he, literally, inched his way in front of Lyndon Amick, on the very last turn of the very last lap. Mackey's move on Amick, as the pair came to the checkers, has since been reviewed as the all time closest finish in Series history. The finish was also was shown on TNN's Raceday program as the very first (and to date, the closest) "Rogaine Hair Raising Finish of the Week". In 1996, Tri-County Motor Speedway race fans also witnessed a new track qualifying record set as Lyndon Amick turned a 87.188 mph lap during the afternoon time trials. On the afternoon of May 23, expect that record to be laid to rest after only one year of service. The all new, and improved NASCAR Goody's Dash Series cars have been demolishing track records at every short track venue visited so far, in 1997.
