¨ This event marks the 42nd appearance of the Goody's Dash Series at Hickory Motor Speedway since 1975 and, it is the only second appearance for the Series at any speedway in 1998.

¨ The Hickory Motor Speedway has hosted more Goody's Dash Series events than any other speedway, hosting at least one event every year for the past 15 years. Since 1986, the speedway has scheduled two events for the Series every year.

¨ In the spring 1998 event here, David Hutto set a new Series qualifying record previously held by Robert Huffman. Hutto's qualifying speed of 14.954 sec broke Huffman's record of 15.104 sec. set in June 1997.

¨ Hutto went on to win that spring event after leading for a total of 57 laps. Jake Hobgood and Robert Huffman also led portions of that event. It was Hutto's second consecutive win at Hickory, having won the Sept. race in 1997.

¨ Although back to back wins here are numerous, no one has been able to complete the sweep in the spring and summer events of the same year since Rob Moroso did so in 1986. Prior to that, Phil Parsons swept both races in 1978 and Dean Combs is the only three consecutive event winner here in 1976. From 1975-77 Combs won six of the eight Dash Series races held.

¨ In the 41 previous events here, there have been 21 different winners. Nine drivers have won at least two events and four drivers have won three or more events. Dean Combs has won the most events here, seven, followed by Larry Caudill with four and Robert Huffman and David Hutto both have three victories each.

¨ Robert Huffman has the most poles here, six, two of which resulted in wins. ¨ Eight times the Series champion has won at least one race at Hickory on his way to the crown. The last time that happened was in 1992 when Mickey York won the fall race and the championship.

Note: Prior to 1992, some records may be incomplete.
