Early Season Point Battles Take Shape At Greenville Pickens Speedway

GREENVILLE, SC (April 5, 2001)- NASCAR Weekly Racing Series action returns to the Greenville Pickens Speedway this Saturday, with racing action scheduled for the Late Model, Super Stock, Street Stock, and Charger divisions. Six time track champion Donnie Bishop goes for his third win in four tries this season, with Asheville's Pete Silva, Central's Jay White, Liberty's Kenneth Headen, and Greenville's Fred Phillips vying for an early season top five placement. Greenville's Robby Robbins leads the Super Stock divison, with Greenville's Phillip Lynch and Easley's Randy Ballew close behind. Travelers Rest's Daryl Culbertson holds a slim lead in the Street division over Liberty's Chris Meinders and Greenville's Tim Sam. Greer's Ted Somero leads Greenville's Travis Hardin and Bryan Davis in the Charger ranks.

Gates open Saturday at 4pm, with the first race set to go at 8. Adult general admission will be $10.00, with children under 12 admitted free with a paying adult.
