BECHTELSVILLE, PA. AUGUST 14, 1999 . . . Rain, a few drops here, a shower there, and more drops here, plus a forecast for heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday night doubleheader show of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models at Grandview Speedway. "We kept trying to wait it out. A couple of times the rain stopped and we thought we could get the show in. However at 5:30 p.m., with rain falling, we had to make a decision. We called it off. It was the first rainout this season and the first since June, 1998. We don't like to call off an event unless it is absolutely impossible to run," said event organizer Rogers. "We had heavy rain here on Friday night, about 4 inches in a short time. The track was a sea of mud most of the day. We could not handle much more rain. It was the right decision....at the time. We just hate to lose a show."
