BECHTELSVILLE, PA APRIL 13, 2002 . . . With the NASCAR Modified feature race starting field ready to take to the track, heavy rain forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to call a halt to the Saturday night racing action at Grandview Speedway.
Before the rains came NASCAR Late Model qualifying heat races were won by Lou Egrie, Jeff Stong and Randy Stoudt. And in the NASCAR Modifieds Ryan Watt, Tom Mayberry, Ron Solomon, Todd Heydt and Danny Erb were qualifying heat winners. Consolation racers were won by Mike Gular, Doug Manmiller and Barry Readinger.
The Cash Dash for Modifieds, worth $400 to the winner, went to young Ryan Watt.
The rainout has created two Saturday "Bargain Nights" for auto racing fans.
The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Modified and Late Model stock cars return to action at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 20. The rained out Modified feature will be the first event of the night followed by a complete show of racing for modifieds and late models. At least 15 events of stock car racing will be presented during the Bargain Night. Gates, for spectators, open at 3:30 p.m. Racing gets the green flag at 6 p.m.
And on Saturday, April 27, 6 p.m. the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will make up the April 27th show with two features for the Lat e Models creating another Bargain Night of racing. Checkered Flag Fan Club will be there to present awards to each feature winner. Racing starts at 6 p.m.
Fans at both the April 20 and April 27th show will see an extra feature race each night with no increase in ticket prices.
PIT NOTE: Interest in the June 15 Chuck Sennott Memorial Late Model race is running very high. The Late Models will be featured in a 30-lap feature on this special night with at least $1,000 going to the winner.
Qualifying heats will be sponsored by Wharlock Chassis, Devine Transport and Dave's Auto Service. The consolation will carry the Profile Trailers name.
