BECHTELSVILLE, PA AUGUST 22, 1999 . . . Kids love NASCAR stock car racing. And they prove that on the final Saturday of each month at Grandview Speedway. For the past two seasons, event organizer Bruce Rogers has invited kids under 12 to attend the Saturday night races, the final Saturday of each month, free of charge. And the kids bring their parents and friends. The result is that on Saturday night there is a huge crowd in the stands for NASCAR stock car racing at Grandview. The reason for the huge crowd is that the kids get in free (helping to create new race fans), the kids love NASCAR stock car racing, and they want their parents to be part of the excitement, and Grandview Speedway is, "Home of Great Old-Time, Wheel-To-Wheel, Paint Swapping- In Your Face-No Wimps -Stock Car Racing." Add to that the fact that there are usually at least 85-90 race cars in the pits for the Saturday night doubleheaders. . This Saturday, August 28, there will be a load of kids in the stands as it is the final Family Night of the season, all kids under 12 admitted free, and it will be a tripleheader show featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Pro Four stock cars. The Saturday night show, starting at 7:30 p.m. will be sponsored by Kreiser Race Fuels. And on Saturday, September 4, the chase for the lucrative NASCAR Modified and Late Model point championships come to a close. The final point events of the season will be presented as part of Busch Beer Night. One of the famous Clydesdale horses will be on hand for photo fun and there will be a Winston Cup car on display. There will be fan giveaways and a giant prize for a lucky fan. And there will be at least 13 events of stock car racing, NASCAR style. Come Thursday, September 9, the annual T.H.P. Freedom 76 Golf Classic will be presented at the Gilbertsville, PA Golf Course. Many of the media, sponsors, racers and officials play in the tournament. Fans are invited to play for just $50.00 per person and that includes golf, refreshments, steak dinner, prizes, awards and a golf shirt. And on Saturday, September 11, the T.H. Properties Freedom 76 will be presented. This is the Grand-daddy of all area major dirt track modified spectaculars with close to 100 race teams expected to participate. It is one of the largest sporting events in Berks and Montgomery counties. T.H. Properties is one of the largest and most successful home builders in the area and in the nation. Keystone Pretzel Bakery has posted $1500 for the Keystone Pretzel Cash Dash. The rain date is Sunday, September 12. FREEDOM 76 PROGRAM/YEARBOOK AVAILABLE IN ADVANCE
LANGHORNE, PA AUGUST 22, 1999 . . . For the last ten years there has always been more requests for the Grandview Speedway Freedom 76 Program/Yearbook, than there have been books. The book has been a sellout every year for the past ten years. And there are always disappointed fans who can not get a copy of the book that automatically becomes a collector's item. "We print just what we think we will need and that is it. We prefer to sell out than have books left. We figure the number of books we need pretty close. And it is a very popular book with people keeping it to read during the off season. There are a load of facts, figures, information, stories, and photographs. Again the book will be at least 60 pages with color covers." said publisher Ernie Saxton. Again this year fans are invited to order their books in advance and they will be shipped to them. The cost is $5.00 for the book and $3.00 for postage and handling. Those wishing to order in advance may do so at the track or send their check, payable to ESC, Inc., 1448 Hollywood Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047-7417.
