FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL TO TOP THE MONTH OF AUGUST AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 26, 1999 . . . Many of the top names in dirt track modified stock car racing will be at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, August 7. The reason? It will be the annual running of the Forrest Rogers Memorial which is sponsored this year by Motor Truck Equipment Co. Kenworth Cummins and the race has been extended from 40-laps to 50- laps. $10,000 is being offered for the winner. However, in order to walk off with the $10,000 the winner must be wearing the various sponsor patches on his uniform and carry the proper sponsor decals on the race car. Failing to meet all requirements for decals and patches, the winner will receive a pay cut to $5,000. "We want to make sure the sponsors are getting the exposure they deserve. And we want to make sure the racers are aware how important the sponsors are to the success of racing today. Motor Truck Equipment Co. Kenworth/Cummins have put up a considerable amount of money to sponsor a point series and these special race events. That is important to the success of short track auto racing," said event organizer Bruce Rogers. Included in the Saturday, August 7 show, with the modifieds, will be the NASCAR Late Models. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m. The race is run in memory of the late Forrest Rogers who had the idea to build the speedway and carried out his idea to create what is now Grandview Speedway. Unfortunately he did not live to see the facility become the success it is today. His son Bruce now runs the track along with assistance from his wife Theresa and his son Kenny and daughter Tina. DIRT Modifieds will be featured at Grandview Speedway on Thursday, August 12 when the Super DIRT Modified Series Qualifier is presented. This will be a 99 lap race offering $6,000 to win. DIRT Modified rules will apply. For advance ticket information telephone 215.860.5631. Saturday, August 14 will be the rain date for the Forrest Rogers Memorial event but if it is not needed then a regular show of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, at least 13 events, will be presented starting at 7:30 p.m. Winston Fan Appreciation Night is set for Saturday, August 21 with NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models again in the spotlight. Come Wednesday, August 24 the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will be featured along with the Pennsylvania Posse in the King of the Hill Sprint Car Championship. In addition the KARS 358 sprints will be featured. And closing out the month of August will be Kreiser Race Fuels Night on Saturday, August 28. Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown, in Bechtelsville, PA.
