BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 22, 2000 . . . Some of the most exciting stock car racing seen at the NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway (Bechtelsville, PA) features the Exide ShorTrack Late Model stock cars each Saturday evening. As an incentive to, perhaps, run just a little harder racers Jeff Teets, Harry Henning and Rick Todorow have been able to put together an impressive array of contingency award sponsors for the 2000 season. "Over the years there has been a lot of interest in the NASCAR Modifieds. This year the Late Models have gotten some attention with Exide Batteries sponsoring the NASCAR ShorTrack point fund on a national level. And Exide has become the official battery of Grandview Speedway with batteries provided to the racers and for use in track equipment. We appreciate that kind of support," said Ernie Saxton, track marketing director. "Now we have a number of well known companies in the sport who have stepped forward to participate in contingency award programs. This is a first time effort at Grandview Speedway. Jeff Teets, Harry Henning and Rick Todorow have put a lot of time and effort into making the exciting program happen." Winters Performance Products has posted a $100 discount certificate toward the purchase of a new Winters rear-end for each racer finishing in the final top ten point standings. And a $200 gift certificate will be awarded to each of the top ten point finishers from Jones Pulley System. The award is good towards the purchase of a front belt and pulley drive system. A-1 Racing Products, well known to racers at Grandview, has offered a 50% discount gift certificate will be awarded to ten of the top 20 drivers in the final points. Philadelphia Racing Products, well known in drag racing, are moving into oval track competition. A gift certificate will be awarded in the amount of $500 to be used for services at the full function speed shop. Parson's Enteprises, one of the most popular equipment and parts suppliers at the track, will award a $500 gift certificate to one of the top 20 drivers in final points. Doug Meyers Automotive Machining Services will award a $500 gift certificate to one of the top 20 point finishes. Meyers is well known for his precision built engines for both the modifieds and late models. MMI Racing Compenents, home of the "Viper Chassis" will award each of the top 5 in points a gift certificate for $100 in manufactured parts -- with a $100 purchase. Penn Kleen, producer of "Ex-ITS" The Cleaner Purpose Cleaner product, will provide a free "Value-Pak" of their product to the top 5 in points. And Salvage Transport Services, owned and operated by Jeff and Karen Teets, will awards a Caster/Camber Gauge, Digital Tire Pressure Gauge and $50.00 to the Late Model team earning the "Best Appearing Car" as voted by the STS #100 Crew. Ernie Saxton Communications, Langhorne, PA will award one of the very successful Sponsorship Marketing Kits. The kits have been used by many throughout the nation and Canada to attract serious sponsorship support for their race team. Saxton also assisted in putting together marketing and public relations materials for the contingency promotion efforts. One driver, if winning all possible posted awards, could get over $2,400 out of the more than $6400 in posted contingency awards. Negotiations continue with other companies to have them involved in the promotional program. Some of the contingency program sponsors require decals being used on the race cars and/or photographs being supplied to the sponsors. A special ad will run in the track magazine, GRANDVIEW GROOVE, for the balance of the season showing logos for all companies involved. In addition there will be a victory lane sign in place at the speedway showing off logos of the award sponsors. None of the contingency programs are designed to replace existing NASCAR and Grandview Speedway point fund programs already in place. In addition to presenting NASCAR Exide ShorTrack Late Model racing, Grandview Speedway plays host to the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modified stock cars on Saturday nights throughout the season. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. And there is a Sunday night rain date with a 7 p.m. starting time. The one-third-mile, clay banked Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just a short distance off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA 10 miles north of Pottstown.
