UNITED RACING CLUB SPRINT CARS TO BE PART OF JUNE RACING

BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 24, 1999 . . . The popular Bars Leaks United Racing Club sprint cars will return to the Grandview Speedway for the first time in a number of years on Saturday, June 12. Event organizer Bruce Rogers will present a special doubleheader show, sponsored by Red Hill Ford, that will feature the sprints and NASCAR Modified stock cars. There will be no late model stock car racing as part of the June 12 show. At present this is the only scheduled appearance of the URC sprint cars at Grandview Speedway. And it is the first appearance of the United Racing Club racers since Ed Darrell offered the sprinters as part of his Sunday night promotions at the Berks County oval several years back. The month of June will kick off with True Value Hardware Night featuring the NASCAR Winston Racing Series Modifieds and NASCAR Shortrack Late Model stock cars on Saturday, June 5. As usual, on a Saturday night, there will be at least 13 events of stock car racing. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. The URC sprints and NASCAR Modifieds will be the featured attractions on Saturday, June 12. One of the most popular events of the season will take place on Saturday, June 19. Twin 20-lap features for the NASCAR Modifieds will be featured along with late model stock car racing. And on Saturday, June 26 O'Connor Truck Centers/Freightliner will be the sponsor of the doubleheader show of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models. The Keystone Pretzel Pennsylvania Sprint Car Series will be featured at Grandview Speedway on Sunday, June 27. With $10,000 being offered to the winner of the sprint car feature, it is expected that many of the top talents in area sprint car racing, and perhaps a few travelers, will be seen in action. In addition the KARS 358 Sprints will be part of the doubleheader show. The sprint events are part of the Philadelphia Daily News/NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series promoted by Bob Miller and Bruce Rogers. This is the tenth anniversary series. In the event of rain the complete show will be run at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 28. And kicking off the month of July will be the annual Firecracker 40 for NASCAR Late Models on Saturday, July 3. The NASCAR Modifieds will also be part of this special holiday show and it is expected that fireworks, both on and off the track, will be part of the holiday weekend activities. All NASCAR Modified events run at Grandview Speedway are part of the Motor Truck Equipment Co. Kenworth/Cummins NASCAR Modified Championship Series offering at least $40,000 in point fund money. $15,000 will go to the champion of the series that also includes Friday night NASCAR Modified events at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA. Information on all events at Grandview Speedway may be had by telephoning 610.754.7688 or visit their website: www.grandviewspeedway.com. The one-third-mile, clay banked oval is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
