** MILLER LITE 200 / BILLY WOODS FAST FACTS **
This Weekend's Task: Billy Woods and the A.W. Miller/Woods Machine & Tool Racing Team visits Long Island Saturday night for the Featherlite Modified Series event at the quarter mile track. The Miller Lite 200 marks the series' first of two visits to the legendary facility and it's an event that Woods knows will be a challenge. Looking ahead to the Saturday night showdown Woods says, "Riverhead is a tough place to qualify. We're going to be there, do our best to get in the show, and stay out of trouble in the main event." Billy Woods has qualified for one previous Featherlite Modified Series event at Riverhead. The Nichols NY resident qualified 20th for the 1997 edition of the Kendall Oil 201 on August 9th, and finished 20th in the event with 161 laps completed.
Last Week:(6/13/98, All Pro Auto Parts 150, Jennerstown PA) When Billy Woods and the A.W. Miller Technical Sales/Woods Machine & Tool Racing Team arrived at Jennerstown Speedway for the running of the All-Pro Auto Parts 150, it was the team's return to the track where Woods made his Featherlite Modified Series debut in 1996. Woods' familiarity with the half mile facility was apparent as the Nichols (NY) resident turned in the sixth fastest time in qualifying. Following the redraw for the top ten starting positions, Woods began the All Pro Auto Parts 150 from the ninth place on the starting grid. The Woods Chevrolet was running in 13th place when the team made it's first pit stop of the night on lap 33. After a second adjustment on lap 39, Woods took the green flag in 18th place. The #51 was in 18th place on lap 77 when Woods stood on the brakes to avoid a multi-car accident blocking the track ahead of him. The car went into a spin hitting the backstretch wall. During the caution period after the red flag incident, the team went to work to get the car back under power. Despite extensive damage to the Woods Modified, the #51 was able to register two additional laps. The extra effort allowed Woods to gain five positions and post a 21st place in the event won by Mike Stefanik.
