RUFFLES TO SPONSOR WATKINS GLEN NASCAR FEATHERLITE MODIFIED RACE
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour competition will have a new flavor when it returns to Watkins Glen International during the August 22-24 weekend. Circuit officials announced today that the 150-kilometer race will be sponsored by Frito-Lay, and will be known as the Ruffles 150.
The Ruffles 150 will join the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series in the Parts America 150, plus two races for the U.S. Formula Ford 2000 National Championship Series. This will mark the third visit of the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour to Watkins Glen International. Mike Stefanik won the inaugural Ruffles 150 at the Glen last August, while 'rim Connolly out dueled Rick Fuller and Ted Christopher to win the Polaroid 150 in June.

The Ruffles 150 will be televised live on espn2, with a starting time of 3 p.m. The Parts American 150 takes the green flag at 12:30 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPN.

Everyone at Frito-Lay is excited about the association with the Featherlite Modified Tour and WGI. Though the Modifieds are relatively new to WGI, their visit is quickly growing into one of the premier events on the Modified Tour and Ruffles and our new flavors are proud to be part of this event."
Frito-Lay is the leading manufacturer of snack foods in the United States. The Plano, Tex. based company owns more than 50-percent of the snack food market. Other Frito-Lay brands include Lays, Doritos, Tostitos and Rold Gold.
Spectator gates open on Friday at 8 a.m., with on-track activities featuring the Craftsman Trucks and U.S. Formula Ford 2000 National Championship. Practice and qualifying for the Ruffles 150 will be held on Saturday, joining qualifying for the Parts America 150 and the first of two 30-minute U.S. FF2000 races. Sunday's on-track activities begin at 8 a.m.
