ROANOKE, VA (November 1, 2000) -- Advance Auto Parts will sponsor the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and the Featherlite Modified Tour race at Martinsville Speedway in 2001. The Advance Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway is scheduled for April 7, 2001, the day before the Virginia 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race. The Advance Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race is set for Oct. 13, 2001, the day before the Old Dominion 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race. "Advance Auto Parts is extremely pleased to be involved with Martinsville Speedway," said Wendy Delano, Marketing Director for Advance Auto Parts. "The fact that Martinsville Speedway is located so close to our corporate headquarters is like hosting an event in our own back yard. "Furthermore, to be able to sponsor two great events like the NASCAR Craftsman Truck race and the Featherlite Modified race is just icing on the cake. We're looking forward to providing the fans with some exciting racing action in the upcoming 2001 season." Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said the track and Advance Auto Parts are a great combination. "We are proud to have Advance Auto Parts on the Martinsville Speedway team for the 2001 season," Campbell said. "We share a common goal: to offer the very best service to our customers. That is something Martinsville Speedway and Advance Auto Parts both have been doing for a long time." Bobby Hamilton is the defending champion in the Advance Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman race while Reggie Ruggiero is the defending champion in the Advance Auto Parts 200 Featherlite Modified Tour race. It is not Advance Auto Parts first involvement with Martinsville Speedway. They sponsored the spring Busch Grand National/Late Model Stock doubleheader in 1993 and 1994. Advance Auto Parts is the primary trade name for Advance Stores Company, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Advance Holding Corporation. Established in 1932 with three stores in Virginia -- two in Roanoke, Va. and one in Lynchburg, Va. -- Advance now has more than 1,700 stores in 38 states.
