Big Field Expected For Goody’s Body Pain 200

Martinsville, VA---Fifty-seven NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds will attempt to make the field for the $85,690 Goody’s Body Pain 200 on Saturday at Martinsville Speedway. The entry list includes series points leader Tony Hirschman who has won the past three consecutive races on the Featherlite Modified Tour. The entry list also includes several past Martinsville Speedway winners and numerous local favorites. Past Martinsville winners entered include Reggie Ruggiero, Tom Baldwin, Donald Worley, Mike Ewanitsko, Jamie Tomaino, and Hirschman. There are several drivers from Virginia and North Carolina expected to take on the series regulars including Worley of Rocky Mount, Va.; Jay Foley, Stuart, Va.; Andrew "Jr." Miller, Belews Creek, NC; William "Burt" Myers, Walnut Cove, NC; Frank Fleming, Mt. Airy, NC; Earl Baker, Winston-Salem, NC; Melvin "Puddin" Swisher, Kernersville, NC; Tim Dwiggins, Kernersville, NC; and Thomas Kirchman, Sterling, Va. Ewanitsko is the defending Goody’s Body Pain 200 champion after leading the final 33 laps a year ago. Local favorite Jr. Miller finished seventh. Jan Leaty holds the Goody's Body Pain 200 qualifying record with a lap of 19.107 seconds, 99.105 miles per hour. Qualifying for the top 27 starting positions in the Goody’s Body Pain 200 is 11:30 a.m. Saturday. There will be seven provisional positions awarded to complete the 34-car starting field. The Featherlite Modified Series is sharing the weekend with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series which is running in the NAPA AutoCare 500 Sunday at 1 p.m. Saturday includes a day full of action beginning with Modified practice from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Winston Cup practice from 9:40 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., second round Winston Cup qualifying at 11:15 a.m. and Winston Cup’s final practice after the Goody’s Body Pain 200. The Goody’s Body Pain 200 starts at 1 p.m. and tickets, for all of Saturday’ s action, are only $25 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. The NAPA AutoCare 500/Goody’s Body Pain 200 weekend kicks off on Friday at 3 p.m. with Bud Pole qualifying for the top 25 Winston Cup starting positions. The Anderson Tractor-John Deere 30-lap Allison Legacy Series race will follow Bud Pole qualifying. Tickets for Bud Pole day are $10 for adults and children under 12 get in free. There still are great reserved seats available for $40-$45 for the NAPA AutoCare 500 on Sunday. Martinsville also has 8,000 unreserved seats that go on sale race morning for $35 each and for children ages 6-12 unreserved tickets are $5.
