Martinsville, VA---Martinsville Speedway has changed its Saturday schedule for the NAPA AutoCare 500 weekend, September 29-October 1, by holding the final Winston Cup practice before the Goody’s Body Pain 200. The final NASCAR Winston Cup practice for the NAPA AutoCare 500 will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. The Goody’s Body Pain 200 NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race will start at 3 p.m. “The schedule is different from what has been done in the past, but the change will help Winston Cup drivers meet other commitments, including appearances, on race weekend,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. The Saturday schedule includes Featherlite Modified practice from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Winston Cup practice from 9:40 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Second round Winston Cup qualifying will be held at 11:15 a.m. and qualifying for all positions in the Goody’s Body Pain 200 will be at 11:30 a.m. The weekend gets underway on Thursday, September 28 with qualifying for the Anderson Tractor-John Deere 30-lap Intermedia Allison Legacy Series race. The Allison Legacy Series will practice from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. that morning. On Friday, September 29 the Winston Cup stars will practice from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Bud Pole qualifying for the top 25 positions in the NAPA AutoCare 500 will get underway at 3 p.m. Following Winston Cup time trials will be the Anderson Tractor-John Deere 30-lap race. It will be fifth consecutive year the series has raced on Winston Cup pole day at Martinsville. Mike Smith of Akron, Ohio won the 1999 event. The green flag falls on the NAPA AutoCare 500 Winston Cup race at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 1. Tickets for Bud Pole day are $15 for adults and children under age 12 get in free. Tickets for Saturday including second round Winston Cup qualifying and final practice, Featherlite Modified qualifying and the Goody’s Body Pain 200 are $30 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
