ROGELIO LOPEZ HEADS TO NASHVILLE LOOKING FOR A WIN
CHARLOTTE, NC (July 20, 2007) - Rogelio Lopez heads to Nashville looking for a win in the Music City 150 which is Round 8 in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series schedule. The race will be held on Sunday, July 22 at the 0.596-mile Music City Motorplex when the series visits for the first time this track.
"I'm happy with the work done and now we are heading to a new track at Nashville, Tennessee. Almost nobody in the series has previously been at that track. So, basically everybody starts from scratch. Though, there are a few teams which have been there testing. I know that one or two have been there before," said Telmex driver. "What I've heard is that Nashville is a track with very little grip like Greenville and there we hadn't a lot of grip. I really don't know very much about the track. I only know that is a half of a mile track with 16 grades of banking."
"It seems to be that Nashville is a difficult track, where you have to work hard to get a lot of grip in the car, but we will work on the car to have it in great conditions. This week the guys have only done regular work on the car, since we are going to use the same primary car. We are going to start with the same basic setup and I think this will help us with what we have been doing," the Mexican added.
"We are happy because this month is full of racing towards the end of July. And this Monday we also started to work on the road course car, we are going to Lime Rock at the middle of August. We have a car that was owned by Robert Yates, Dale Jarrett's car# 88 which was a NEXTEL Cup car -that's different from what we have been working on, it is a heavier car. We had to make it lighter, because it had many things that we don't even use," Lopez said.
"Overall, these will be two months with a lot of work, because we have been preparing the car for a track that we normally don't race and later at the end of September we'll have Dover. We are also preparing another car for that track, however, we are happy because we'll be racing most of the time during these two months," he said.
