Rich Gould Hopes for an Exciting Return to Music City
China Grove, NC 7/16/08- It's a date that NASCAR Camping World East Series driver Rich Gould has had circled on his calendar since the 2008 schedule came out. A wild mix of emotions ran through the #58 team last season as they stormed through the field to third place. With less than fifteen laps remaining, after starting shotgun on the field, they blew a tire in the closing laps, settling for a solid tenth place finish.
Now with the return of the Camping World East Series at Nashville just days away, Gould feels his chances to not only repeat his run but to improve on it is in the cards.
"Last year's race was disappointing. We were running so well and it all went down the drain at the end. Preparing for this weekend, we were able to apply some things to the car that should make us even better. When you know that you are capable of running good at a certain track, it makes you eager to get back there." explained Gould, the transplant from New Jersey now living in North Carolina.
One order of business the team will be focused on will be their qualifying efforts. It's an issue that has plagued the team, which has resulted in starting deeper in the field. In turn, it has caused them to get caught up in other competitor's wrecks.
"If we can qualify better then I think that will make a world of difference. Our cars are fast over longer runs rather than short runs and it's shown. We have done some testing to address it and I think we'll be better. I'll just have to get up on the wheel and drive it as hard as I can," said Rich.
