"Spraker Racing Enterprises Rookie Feeling More Comfortable About Friday's Race"
LOUDON, New Hampshire (June 28, 2007) - - NASCAR Busch East Series (NBES) rookie Michelle Theriault headed into Busch pole qualifying Thursday afternoon looking to rebound from a disappointing practice session.
Before climbing into her GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, the rookie told her crew that she was going to find some speed. She kept her word.
During her two lap hustle around New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS), Theriault posted a quick lap of 31.450 seconds at 121.107 MPH. The final rundown showed Theriault locked in the 23rd position for Friday's New England 125.
Earlier in the day, Theriault posted the 34th fastest lap with a time of 32.035 seconds or 118.895 MPH. The Connecticut native picked nearly six tenths of a second during her time trials run.
"I'm happy with our qualifying lap," Theriault offered. "The car felt really good. I need to thank my guys and Jeff Spraker for making the right adjustments from practice. Jeff asked me if the car loose and it wasn't. The car stuck and I was happy about that. I'm going to play a cautiously aggressive role during the race. I really think if I drive smart we can have a good finish tomorrow afternoon."
