He leads the K&N Pro Series East championship standings. He's the only driver to finish in the top three in the season's first two races. And he won a pole in his debut stock car race.

Indeed, 19-year-old Cole Whitt is building quite the resume in his brief time down south driving the No. 84 Red Bull Toyota.

"When you're running all the races, the first thing on your mind is about going for the championship," said Whitt, Red Bull Racing Team's development driver who leads fellow rookie Ryan Gifford by 25 points in the standings. "There was no doubt in my mind from the first race that we were going to contend for the championship. I wasn't going to go into this season with any different mindset. All these guys know we're going to be the car to beat - and that's a good feeling."

He has a bit of an advantage this weekend, too. Of the nine tracks on the East schedule, Iowa is the only oval Whitt raced on prior to the start of the season. Last July, Whitt, an open-wheeler by trade, started third and finished seventh in the USAC National Sprint Car Series event at Iowa.

"I'm ready to get to Iowa," he said. "Being a bigger track, more speed, is going to suit our team and make us even faster. The bigger the track, the better we've been. We've got really high expectations for Iowa. The best thing we've got going for us is going to bigger tracks."
