DEFENDING PRO SERIES WEST CHAMPION BOWLES SET TO MAKE EAST DEBUT
Concord, NC (03/25/10) - Reigning NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Champion Jason Bowles is set to make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina on Saturday, March 27th, in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 piloting the No. 38 Ford Fusion for Go Green Racing.
The 27-year-old Ontario, CA native will visit the half-mile Greenville, SC oval track for the first time in his racing career as he competes in the K&N Pro Series East season opener. Bowles, who has nine wins and nine poles in only 39 Pro Series West starts, made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) last fall but is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in the Pro Series.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for me," Bowles said. "I have always wanted to run some East Series races and I'm really looking forward to it this weekend. I have to thank all the guys at Go Green Racing for this opportunity. I'm hoping to start the season off right and bring home a good result for the Go Green team."
Bowles, who relocated to North Carolina from California in late 2009 to focus on his racing career, is still working on plans for the remainder of the 2010 season. Following the Pro Series East season opener, Bowles will return to PIR as the defending race winner for the K&N Pro Series West Jimmie Johnson Foundation 100. Bowles led 86 of the 151 laps a year ago en route to his first victory at PIR.
"My racing plans for the near future are to put together as many Nationwide, Truck, East and West deals as possible," Bowles said. "It's important for me to keep racing and get seat time. Racing is just like anything you do, the more often you do it the better you are at it."
The 24th NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season opener will mark the first time that defending NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and East Champions have squared off against one another in a traditional season race since 2007. Bowles will be competing against Ryan Truex, who took the K&N Pro Series East title in 2009, amongst other competitors in the 150 lap, 75-mile event.
