LOGANO WINS BUSCH EAST OPENER AT GREENVILLE-PICKENS
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 28, 2007) -- Teenager Joey Logano took the lead with 28 laps remaining and went on to win the Greased Lightning 150 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. The race was the season opener for the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series.
The victory was the second in the Grand National Division in as many weeks for Logano. He won a Grand National Division, West Series race nine days earlier.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Grand National Division. The bias-ply tires built for the GND are divided into track categories and the teams get experience with every Grand National tire code during the season.
Logano, who is just 16, drives for Joe Gibbs Racing and is part of the team's Driver Development program. He beat Sean Caisse to the finish by 4.595 seconds. Series veteran Bryon Chew was third, followed by Peyton Sellers and Rogelio Lopez.
Logano set a track record in qualifying, touring the half-mile track at an average speed of 87.481 mph. He averaged 51.360 mph during the race and led a total of 76 laps.
The next race for the Busch East Series will be the first race of a two-race weekend when East meets West at Elko Speedway in Minnesota and at Iowa Speedway in Iowa.
