Eric Beers finishes the 2002 regular season strong.
Northampton, PA. . . . The regular season is now over and only the Wall Stadium 150 Lap Turkey Derby is left on the schedule. The 2002 Season for Eric Beers can be one as the "Travelin man" and one that had the team at many new venues. If history repeats itself Eric will take the information and experience of the 2002 and put himself and the team in a position to win many times in 2003. Eric made it to 13 of 19 NASCAR Modified Tour event and finished 25th in overall standings and 3rd in rookie points. Eric made it to 6 of 11 Sunoco Race of Champions Modified Tour events and finished 13th overall in points in addition to one win and an almost win at the Race of Champions. The season began with a 2 wins and second place in points at New Smyrna Speedway. Trips to Mountain Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway on some off weekends netted the team several more wins. A great season but one that had its share of strange twists and turns such as a muffler falling off while running third at Martinsville, A rear Breaking at Thompson, A bad tire while running fifth at Stafford, etc. There are the things that the team will focus on as they prepare for the 2003 season. Many thanks to all that supported Eric Beers and the team such as Sunoco Race Fuels, Horwith Freightliner, Wynns-K-CEE Distributing, Classic Cleaners, JR Embroidery, plus many others.
November 3 - Mountain Speedway - Open Tire Race --Modified and Late Model Eric and the Sunoco Race Fuels #19 NASCAR MODIFIED finished 3rd in the first heat and started the race in the 7th position. On this cold and blustery day Eric quickly moved his way up into third where he stayed for a period as he tried to get around the #7 of Rick Zacharias. Once done Eric quickly moved to get back on track to catch Matt Hirschman. A caution flew with 10 to go to bunch up the field. On two occasions Eric had made the move to get up to Matt's Door but used better judgment on this cold day that one of them might slip up to and wreck both cars. Eric settled for a second place finish.
Eric made a return to a Late Model in over a decade in the Sunoco Race Fuels, Wynns Performance Products # 00 Dallas Beers Owned Mount. For not being in a full fendered car in over a decade Eric Beers held his own. Eric finished second in his heat race and second in the feature.
The schedule now sees Eric and the team head to Wall Stadium for the Turkey Derby on Nov 29 -30
