DISCOUNT AUTO PARTS 200 BUSCH POLE QUALIFYING NOTES

ROBERT HAM (No. 56 R. Ann Racing Pontiac) -- "Words can't describe the feeling of running at Daytona for the first time. I've lived here all my life (in Ormond Beach), and actually, I never thought I'd get a chance to run here. To run here is a dream come true for me and my team. I'm a three-time (Gatorade) Florida Legends champion, and my car owners (Ed and Ann Briganti of Daytona Beach) decided to try something faster. Even my sponsors are local -- Florida Online and Heavenly Ham -- and they're very excited. I've raced here in go-karts, but there's a big difference from a Goody's Dash car. We just cleared our third hurdle. The first was passing our rookie test, then clearing tech and now qualifying. If we can make it on the first day, that's a big bonus. Now, all I want to do is finish the race and run 80 laps, to get our rookie season off to a good start. I'm hoping to run all the Goody's Dash races this year."

WILL HOBGOOD (No. 65 Wynn's Oil Co. Pontiac) -- "That's the best we've run since we came here. We tried a few different things, but we messed up on a few things. We went back to basics for qualifying. That'll get us in the top five. Everybody slowed down but us."

ROBERT HUFFMAN (No. 37 White House Pontiac) -- I tell you, I'm real excited. We've never started better than 12th. Getting a top 10 start, it makes you feel we can do real well in the race.

MIKE SWAIM JR (No. 28 Falcon Racing LLC Pontiac) -- (Second straight pole for the Discount Auto Parts 200) I can't say enough about Jan Smith and the crew. We came down here for the test and didn't do well. We went home. Barry Owen helped us with the car and Jan got us a better motor. (What did you learn last year?) How to draft, that's the biggest thing. It's harder than it looks. Right now, the car is loose. It's dancing around a little bit. We've got to get it tighter for the race."
