SPARTA, KY. -- NASCAR Busch Series runner-up David Green and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rookie-of-the-Year Carl Edwards will help open the first day of Kentucky Speedway single-event ticket sales on Jan. 5, 2004 by greeting fans at Meijer locations in Louisville, Ky., and Greater Cincinnati.
Green will meet Louisville fans at the Preston Hwy Meijer store from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and Edwards will greet Greater Cincinnati fans at the Meijer location on Houston Rd. in Florence, Ky also from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Both locations are Tickets.com outlets and feature Kentucky Speedway event tickets.
"It will be great to have the best of the NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series represented as we launch our 2004 single-event ticket campaign," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis. "We know the fans will be excited to meet both drivers as David is a Kentucky native and Carl earned his first career truck series win at our track last season."
Edwards won the 2003 truck series rookie-of-the-year battle on the strength of his Kentucky win in "The Built Ford Tough 225 Presented by The Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers." Edwards finished eighth overall in the 2003 points standings and was tied for second in series wins with three. He registered a total of 13 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes. The 24-year-old Roush Racing driver will return to the series in the No. 99 Superchips Ford in 2004.
Green missed his second career NASCAR Busch Series championship by a scant 14 points in 2003. Green led the series standings for a total of nine weeks last season and was among the top-five in the standings for 33 of a possible 34 weeks. He finished the season second to champion Brian Vickers with a total of three wins, 11 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes. Green, the 1994 series champion, will return to Kentucky-based Brewco Motorsports and his No. 37 Timber Wolf machine in 2004.
